The African Doctor – A Family’s Journey from Zaire to France
Originally titled Bienvenue à Marly-Gomont ( 2016), The African Doctor is based on the real-life experience of Seyolo Zantoko, a Congolese doctor who escapes the Mobutu dictatorship in 1975, and migrates to a small village in France. As the local physician, Zantoko and his family struggle to integrate into the rural, all-white community of Marly-Gomont. A light-hearted comedy, the film portrays the social realities of African migration with humor and pathos.
